When you walked into a polling station during the 2026 municipal elections, everything felt intuitive. The signs guided you, floor stickers showed the way and the pencil was ready. You knew exactly what to do. It felt natural. But it wasn’t.
Behind that important moment was a carefully orchestrated process where communication, materials and logistics came together. A process designed to help people find their way, understand what to do and cast their vote with confidence.
For the municipalities of Rotterdam, Capelle aan den IJssel and The Hague, we produced communication materials that made this process visible and understandable — from the first campaign touchpoint to the moment inside the voting booth. And yes, we’re proud of that.
Communication that guides and supports
Municipal elections are complex. There are candidates who want to share their message, processes, rules and deadlines. And ultimately, there is one goal: making sure people cast their vote. That requires communication that is clear and supportive.
As creators of communication, we ensured that materials were not only designed, but actually produced and delivered. Tools that provided clarity, structure and ease of use — helping everyone, from candidates to voters, understand what was happening and what was expected of them.
We produced campaign materials for candidates, enabling them to make their message visible. In addition, we handled the full setup of polling stations: from signage and floor stickers to security seals for ballot boxes.
All with one goal: that people immediately understood what to do and could find their way. Visible, yet essential.
Smart choices, sustainable results
That same logic guided how we produced. Municipal elections require speed and scale. That’s why we made choices that also work in the long term.
We produced materials designed for reuse, such as beach flags and large voting pencils. This way, we combine visibility with sustainability, making the process more efficient for future elections.
One system for hundreds of candidates
For the Municipality of Rotterdam, we took it a step further. In addition to the regular print materials, we developed a custom web application for over 850 candidates.
Through this user-friendly platform, candidates could easily create their own campaign materials. By uploading a photo and adding their name and text, they could instantly generate flyers and social media visuals — all fully aligned with the correct brand guidelines.
The strength of the platform lies in what happens behind the scenes. Templates, layouts and print settings were predefined, ensuring ease of use while maintaining high quality. Orders were automatically collected, produced daily and delivered on location. In other words: the process was fully automated and efficiently organized.
We also supported the communication towards candidates, making sure everything was explained in a clear and accessible way during an important and often exciting moment. And whenever questions arose, we were there to help. This is how we made a complex process manageable.
From visible to meaningful
Municipal elections are not just about materials and systems. They are about people. About involvement. About the idea that your vote matters. From that belief, we created Gers! – Who votes, decides. A special edition of our magazine, entirely dedicated to the 2026 municipal elections in Rotterdam. Not top-down communication, but stories from Rotterdammers themselves. With this edition, we aimed not only to inform, but to inspire and activate.
We launched the magazine on Monday, March 16, in a real Gers! tram by RET, taking a tour through Rotterdam. Together with creators and contributors, we celebrated an edition dedicated to the city and its people. Mayor Carola Schouten joined the ride, received the first copy and shared her love for the city and the importance of voting.
A special moment — one that we hope made a small but meaningful difference.
