To mark Pride Rotterdam, in 2025 we created a special Pride edition of Gers! Magazine together with Chantal van der Putten (Gay Rotterdam) and the Municipality of Rotterdam. An edition entirely dedicated to inspiring role models in our city: Rotterdammers who, in their own way, show what they mean to Rotterdam. From drag performers to athletes, from activists to entrepreneurs — this special edition of Gers! is an ode to diversity, visibility and pride. And above all, to the idea that Rotterdam is for everyone.
From a pride moment to lasting visibility
Our goal was clear: to create an edition that not only celebrates, but also makes visible. A collection of stories in which people can recognise themselves, that sparks conversation and shows just how broad and powerful the LGBTQIA+ community in Rotterdam truly is. By bringing together the right people and stories, we created a single editorial whole that stands like a city itself: open, proud and connected.
Stories that add colour to the city
This special edition of our magazine centres on proud Rotterdammers who demonstrate that impact can be made in many different ways. Stories that feel personal yet resonate beyond the individual, because they speak to giving space, being able to be yourself, and holding one another in the city. That sense of togetherness can be felt throughout — from the open-hearted Reverend Harold Schorren, who speaks with compassion about love and inclusion, to the safe home that Erasmus Pride creates for students within the educational landscape.
Launch at FERRY Rotterdam
The Pride edition was festively launched on 20 September 2025 at FERRY Rotterdam, right in the heart of the city. A location that perfectly reflects what this edition is about: being visible in the city, among the people. FERRY feels accessible and vibrant — a wonderful setting not only to celebrate Pride, but to experience it together.
During the launch, everything came together: fellow Rotterdammers, creators and other involved partners. So many wonderful people, so much energy and, above all, a strong sense of connection. It was one of those evenings where you could feel that this special edition of Gers! is more than “just” a publication — it was a moment in which the city could show itself as it truly is: open, proud and inclusive.
Gers! as a platform, Dex as the maker
As the initiators of Gers!, we are proud to offer a Rotterdam-based platform — both through our magazine and online — for stories that truly matter. With this special Pride edition, we showed what emerges when you collaborate with partners who share the same ambition: celebrating diversity, strengthening connection and showing that Rotterdam is for everyone. Yes, we are proud of that.
