Communication for a district that lives
Since 2025, Dex has been the dedicated communication partner of BIZ Rotterdam Central District. Together, we ensure that the story of the area is told in a consistent and accessible way. Not through isolated tools, but through one recognizable brand identity that reflects the district’s dynamic character. Communication that shows what is happening, what the future holds, and which people and initiatives shape the district.
The RCD Magazine as a foundation
Four times a year, Dex produces the RCD Magazine, which forms a key editorial pillar within the district’s communication strategy. We completely refreshed the magazine’s visual identity and, together with carenza*, developed a contemporary design that aligns seamlessly with the ambitions and character of Rotterdam Central District.
Each edition highlights the three core pillars that define the future of the area: mobility, climate adaptation and livability. We translate these themes into concrete stories, interviews and local initiatives. We speak with inspiring entrepreneurs and creators such as Ajiv Bhagwanbali, artistic director of Rotterdam Street Culture Week, and Mariël van Tongerlo and Steve Ramdin of CECE Bar Urbana. We also showcase initiatives that add both temporary and lasting vibrancy to the district, such as the pop-up sculpture garden at Hofplein and the pop-up skate park, Het Block.
Dex is responsible for the magazine in its entirety: from concept development and editorial coordination to design, production and distribution. Together, we elevated the magazine both visually and editorially, with sharper themes, stronger storytelling and a clear positioning of the three pillars in every edition.
From print to online visibility
In addition to the magazine, we ensure a strong translation across other channels. We developed a new website that seamlessly aligns with the refreshed brand identity and provides space for updates and in-depth content. On a weekly basis, we manage the district’s social media channels from A to Z — from content creation and publishing to actively responding to messages and questions. This keeps the district visible and strengthens engagement. Combined with the magazine, it creates a cohesive communication ecosystem in which print and online reinforce one another.
